Product/ Project Manager – Battery Management Systems (Ref: 2180995)

The office of the CTO at Sensata technologies has created a megatrend-focused organization to capitalize on growth opportunities presented by Electrification, Autonomy, Connected and Sharing. A key Incubation project we are focusing on is the Battery Management Sensing.
Sensata’s battery management engineering team is innovating new sensing and control solutions for lithium-ion energy storage systems. Together with leading global customers, we are developing next generation battery management technologies and products that significantly improve the safety, performance, reliability and costs of battery systems – and the next generation of electric cars, trucks, buses and stationary storage systems that use them. We’re looking for a world class technical talent to lead our global battery management engineering teams.

The Product / Program Manager for the Battery Management Sensing team at Sensata Technologies will lead the New Product Development Process. The PM will be responsible for strategic planning to meet challenging schedules, driving results, and establishing priorities for various project tasks to bring the product from concept to production. The project has the unique challenges of both the product as well as system/software implementation for key customers. The role requires the ability to manage the business and technology risks associated with launching new programs as well as managing the Product Lifecyle of the launched product. This position offers the selected candidate the opportunity to lead and collaborate with global teams in a fast-paced, growth oriented, automotive technology environment in pursuit of overall business goals.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Program management for new product launch & improvement programs of significant importance to the business
  • Customer account management

  • Facilitating global, cross-functional teams in support of business goals
  • Achieving results in a highly global matrixed environment.
  • Evaluating business proposals through cost estimating and discounted cash flow analysis
  • Development & execution of initiatives to drive improved operational efficiency and cost structure associated with installed capacity
  • Anticipating and communicating issues, recommending corrective action, and taking independent remedial actions and reporting outcomes.
  • Education:
  • BS in Engineering is required.
  • Masters in Management or an MBA is preferred.


  • The desired candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of program and/or product management experience in a high-technology, manufacturing environment.
  • The candidate will have proven leadership and facilitation experience in capacity expansion and optimization initiatives to successful outcomes.

The desired candidate will have proven performance in the areas of:

  • Program management &/or Product Management. Accurately scopes out the length and difficulty of tasks, and able to assemble resources to get things done effectively and efficiently
  • Operational Knowledge: Familiarity with operational systems and interfaces with production line (demand and material planning). In depth understanding of key operational elements (yields, OEE, cycle times, etc) that drive forward looking planning on capacity modeling and business objectives.

  • Organizational savvy

  • Other:
  • PMP Accreditation, working knowledge of Six Sigma or other formal problem solving methodology, and familiarity with AIAG requirements, TS16949 and ISO26262 quality system requirements is a plus.
  • Domestic and international travel will be required and estimated <20% of time.
  • SW/HW integration/implementation is a plus

This role involves an element of foreign travel.
