I started working in Schrader in 1995 after graduating with a BEng (Hons.) in Electronics Systems and an MSc in Electronics and Signal Processing. I had already completed 15 months of work placement here in 1992-1993 during which I worked on the very first prototype TPMS systems. During my earlier years in Schrader, I was given a great deal of responsibility and I received support from other senior engineers who were in the company at that time. I progressed into a team management role where I was given the opportunity to manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. A variety of technical training and in-house training helped me to further develop in the role. In 2011, I founded the Technology Development Team which I currently manage.
The acquisition of Schrader by Sensata has had a major impact on my team and we are now designing and developing sensors for other non TPMS applications, such as manifold air pressure and temperature, crankcase pressure sensing and sensors for use in DPF applications. Sensata have continued to provide support during the transition and have organised a number of training workshops to help up-skill us in the various nuances of their MEMS sensor portfolio and associated applications. In 2016 I became a Senior Member of Technical Staff on the Technical Ladder. This culminated in an awards banquet in Attleboro on 12th May 2016.
