I graduated in 2005 from University of Ulster with a BEng Hons in Engineering. This course allowed me to study electronics & mechanical engineering, the later was my chosen speciality.
In November 2006 I started as a Quality Analyst working shifts in our Carrickfergus factory after sometime between my graduation and then working in other places. It was an opportunity to get my foot in the door of a business with great potential and soon after, I boarded the R&D graduate scheme in 2007. I quickly realised I had lots more to learn and I had some great competition with my peers! Over the next few years, I worked hard as a Designer building my experience and developing our new Laser Welded technology for the company’s High Speed SnapIn product. In 2010 I was appointed to my first leadership role and in 2011, I began leading a new team of experts in Simulation, Materials and Engineering Methodology. They now provide Global support across Sensata. In 2017, I started another new initiative and role for the business as Global Simulation Manager. I am leading change in our engineering teams with how simulation is used to support design efficiency across all of Sensata.
12 years on in Sensata, I am still working on building my confidence, still learning and finding opportunities to develop and test myself but I’m in a very different role than I could have imagined. I enjoy working with talented people to improve how we work. My current role allows me to meet people from all of our sites and learn about the exciting technologies they are developing and about their cultures.
