I joined Schrader (later Sensata Technologies) as a Mechanical Design Placement Student in 2007 as part of my Bachelor’s degree in Technology with Design. I returned to Schrader in 2009 as a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer and have since progressed to a Team Leader role. During my time in the Mechanical Design team I have been exposed to many aspects of new product development from brainstorming to high volume product launch whilst continuing to learn through company sponsored training programmes and a part-time Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering. I have worked with major European OEMs and travelled to several countries in Europe to support product launches. My role also provides opportunities to travel to the USA and ASIA on business.
In 2015, I undertook a 6 month secondment at our sister site in The Netherlands as Schrader integrated with our new owner, Sensata Technologies. I have watched the Mechanical team grow from 9 staff members in 2007 to 45+ today and have benefitted from growth opportunities, progressing from Engineer to Senior Engineer, gaining professional Chartership and currently leading a small design team.
